R80 — Children under 16 free of charge

Launched in March 2018, the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra’s Junior String Ensemble has already proved to be the perfect vehicle to offer performance opportunities and act as a feeder ultimately into the flagship Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and eventually into the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra itself. The young musicians, ranging from 9 to 14 years, will be performing works such as Strauss’s Pizzicato-Polka, Edward Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance, Rossini’s William Tell Overture and The Waltz of the Flowers from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. The next step for these youngsters is to form an intermediate string ensemble which will better prepare them to audition for the CPYO.

Also performing at this concert, which is free of charge for all children under the age of 16, is the choir of the Berea Moravian Primary School who made their debut at the Classics for All festival in 2018 and blew the audience off their feet with their sweet voices and discipline.
